Facility will support economic growth and help expand recycling capabilities in the region

BRIDGETON, Mo., Oct. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE: RSG) broke ground on a new state-of-the-art recycling center in Bridgeton. The 105,000-square-foot St. Louis Recycling Center, expected to open in 2028, will serve businesses and approximately 3 million residents across Greater St. Louis and surrounding communities.

The new facility will have the capacity to process up to 45 tons – or nine truckloads – of recyclables per hour and feature advanced technology, including optical sorters and artificial intelligence (AI) systems, to maximize the recovery of recyclable materials.

Republic Services leaders were joined by representatives from the State of Missouri, St. Louis County, City of St. Louis, City of Bridgeton, community leaders and project partners to kick off the project and tout the facility’s role in supporting economic growth, resource recovery and sustainability throughout the region.

The new recycling center is expected to create up to 200 full-time construction jobs during development. Once operational, the facility will have approximately 60 full-time positions. Republic Services currently has more than 1,000 employees in Missouri.

Through its network of 80 recycling centers, the company helped divert 6.4 million tons of recyclables from landfills in 2025. The new St. Louis Recycling Center will further strengthen Republic’s capabilities to recover more material for use in new products.
