Building on the success of the Sheaversity platform, the five-campus tour brings textured hair education, cultural connection and product discovery directly to the heart of HBCU life.
HOBOKEN, N.J., Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Yard has long been where culture, community, and self-expression come to life. This fall, SheaMoisture and Walmart are bringing textured hair education directly into that space with the launch of Sheaversity on the Yard, a first-of-its-kind HBCU tour designed to empower students with the knowledge, resources and confidence to navigate their evolving hair journeys, while celebrating the creativity and culture that make HBCUs so influential.
The tour will visit five Historically Black Colleges and Universities, transforming iconic campus gathering spaces into immersive destinations where students can learn more about their hair, discover products tailored to their needs, and gain practical knowledge they’ll carry with them long after graduation. Through interactive experiences, expert guidance and community-centered programming, students will discover routines, explore new products and connect with peers who are navigating many of the same haircare experiences. Through the Sheaversity curriculum, students can explore learning tracks including Scalp Studies, Moisture 101, Art of Definition and Science of Strength, building the knowledge and confidence to care for their hair on their own terms.
For many students, arriving on campus marks the beginning of a new chapter in their hair journey. New routines, new environments, and newfound independence often mean navigating textured hair care in entirely new ways. While social media has made hair inspiration more accessible than ever, access to trusted, hands-on textured hair education and personalized guidance remains limited. Sheaversity on the Yard was created to help bridge that gap, meeting students where they are with expert education, product discovery and a supportive community designed to help them better understand and care for their hair with confidence.
“At SheaMoisture, we’ve always believed textured hair care is about more than products. It’s about confidence, self-expression and having the knowledge to care for your hair on your own terms. The Yard is where students build community, define their identities and shape culture,” said Brianna Wright, Head of PR, Influencer & Experiential Marketing at SheaMoisture. “The Yard is already a place of learning, connection and self-discovery. With Sheaversity on the Yard, it becomes our classroom, SheaMoisture provides the curriculum, and Walmart serves as the destination that helps students continue their hair journeys long after the tour leaves campus.”
Leading the product education and styling experience will be celebrity hairstylist and educator Justin Revenge, alongside a collective of textured hair styling experts who will provide personalized consultations, styling guidance and educational demonstrations that help students build routines and techniques tailored to their evolving hair goals.
“When people understand their hair, they show up differently,” said Justin Revenge. “That’s what makes Sheaversity on the Yard so powerful. We’re creating access to real education, practical techniques and meaningful conversations that students can take with them long after we leave campus.”
Inspired by the ecosystem that already exists on HBCU campuses, Sheaversity on the Yard brings together the people, businesses and stories shaping campus culture today. Students will discover local food and beverage entrepreneurs through a campus marketplace and engage with peers through The Shea Student Council, a cohort of 25 ambassadors whose stories, leadership and influence help shape campus culture. Students can also explore a special HBCU edition of SheaMoisture Yes, And magazine, featuring stories of leadership, creativity, self-expression and personal growth that celebrate what makes each campus unique. Together, these experiences reflect the spirit of the SheaMoisture Yes, And platform, encouraging students to embrace every version of themselves and every possibility ahead.
The tour will visit five HBCU campuses, each with a rich legacy of academic excellence, cultural impact and community leadership.
