Former Neighborly CTO to Advance the Technology Platforms That Support Franchise Owners, Caregivers, and Clients Across the Network
CHICAGO, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — BrightStar Care, a leading provider of nurse-led home care, skilled care and medical staffing services, today announced the appointment of Amer Waheed as Chief Technology Officer. Waheed will lead the technology organization and drive innovation across the platforms that support franchise owners, caregivers, nurses and clients as the brand continues its rapid national growth.
In his new role, Waheed will lead digital transformation across the BrightStar Care network, modernizing the platforms that power scheduling, caregiver and client engagement, and field operations while helping franchise owners adopt technology that makes their businesses easier to run and positions them for growth.
“I’m excited to join BrightStar Care at a moment when technology is reshaping how care reaches people in their homes,” said Waheed. “Great technology should do more than work. It should make a franchise owner’s business easier to run, help caregivers and nurses deliver exceptional care, and create a better experience for every client and family. I look forward to partnering with the entire team to build platforms that support growth across the network.”
Proven Technology Leader
Waheed most recently served as Chief Technology Officer at Fuze Health, where he deepened his experience in healthcare technology and artificial intelligence, expertise that aligns closely with the nurse-led care model at BrightStar Care.
Before that, he spent more than six years as Chief Technology Officer at Neighborly, the world’s largest home services franchise organization, where he led a digital transformation that reshaped how the brand connects with customers and supports its franchise owners. He built and modernized technology platforms that scaled franchise operations, including scheduling, customer engagement and field-service capabilities.
A centerpiece of that work was the development and launch of a consumer-facing mobile app, which Waheed led. The app gave homeowners a single platform to connect with trusted local service professionals, with features such as simplified scheduling, real-time service status notifications, and exclusive offers and expert tips. Throughout, Waheed worked directly with franchise owners and their advisory council to understand their needs and drive adoption of new technology.
Earlier in his career, Waheed worked at Sabre, a global travel technology company, where he helped pioneer consumer-facing dynamic pricing and scheduling capabilities.
Technology at the Center of the Next Phase of Growth
Waheed joins BrightStar Care at a pivotal moment for the company and the home healthcare industry. As the nation’s population ages and more care shifts into the home, families are seeking trusted care partners, and technology is increasingly central to delivering that care at scale.
“Amer brings a rare combination of deep franchise technology expertise and a genuine understanding of what it takes to help franchise owners run rewarding businesses,” said Josh Wall, CEO of BrightStar Care. “His experience building and scaling platforms across one of the largest franchise organizations in the country, paired with his background in healthcare and AI, makes him exactly the right leader to guide our technology into the next phase of growth. We are thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
With more than 420 franchised locations nationwide, BrightStar Care serves clients of all ages, from infants to seniors, offering the full continuum of care, including companion care, personal care, skilled care, healthcare staffing services and support for more than 180 national accounts.
