With roots dating back to 1960, Nantel McDiarmid has grown from a family-owned dairy distribution business into a recognized player in the Canadian food and beverage distribution industry. The company took its current form in 2019 following the merger of Nantel Distribution and P. McDiarmid et fils. Today, Nantel McDiarmid serves more than 3,500 business customers across Canada, offering a diversified portfolio of food and beverage products supported by an extensive network of supplier partnerships and national subdistribution capabilities.

The transaction creates new opportunities for customers on both sides of the border. Canadian customers will benefit from access to Odeko’s technology platform, designed to simplify ordering, improve visibility into purchasing trends, and streamline day-to-day operations, while continuing to work with the local Nantel McDiarmid team and the trusted brands and supplier relationships they know.

U.S. customers will gain access to Nantel McDiarmid’s diversified portfolio of specialty food and beverage brands, as well as its established supplier network and expertise in the Canadian market. Together, the companies will strengthen their North American reach, expand access to products and services, and create new opportunities for customers and supplier partners alike.

The relationship between Odeko and Nantel McDiarmid dates back to 2019, when Nantel McDiarmid began working with a U.S.-based specialty distributor that was subsequently acquired by Odeko. Since then, the companies have maintained a strong business relationship, built on shared values, complementary expertise, and a common commitment to supporting independent businesses.

“Our relationship with Odeko goes back to our early days as Nantel McDiarmid, making this a natural next chapter in our company’s evolution,” said Justin Letham, President of Nantel McDiarmid. “We have built our business on strong relationships, operational expertise, and a deep commitment to our customers and supplier partners. By joining forces with Odeko, we are combining these strengths with new technology, resources, and investment capabilities to support our continued growth. Our Canadian leadership team will remain in place, ensuring continuity for our employees, customers, and partners while creating exciting opportunities for the future.”

“We’re thrilled to join forces with Nantel McDiarmid,” said Dane Atkinson, CEO and Founder of Odeko. “It was important to pick the right partner for our first international acquisition, and in Nantel we’ve found a team that operates with excellence and cares about their customers as much as we do. Together we are now the single largest voice for North American independent cafés. I’m incredibly excited that our shops now have a single partner that can provide more products, more services, and more capabilities – on both sides of the border.”
