More than two decades of data and analytics investment underpins a growing set of AI tools for colleagues across the firm
CHARLOTTE, NC, UNITED STATES, November 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Amwins, a leading distributor of specialty insurance products and services, today announced a new phase of investment in AI-enabled capabilities built on Amwins DNA, its proprietary portfolio of data and analytics, including the rollout of Claude by Anthropic.
“When we launched Amwins DNA, we said data and analytics are part of who we are. AI is the next chapter of that story,” said Scott Purviance, CEO of Amwins. “We have spent more than two decades building the data foundation, and that is what allows us to put AI alongside our employees’ specialized knowledge to do extraordinary things for our clients.”
Amwins introduced Amwins DNA in October 2023 as the firm’s comprehensive and proprietary portfolio of data and analytics capabilities designed to help Amwins find the best solutions for clients, understand market partners’ risk appetite, build capacity and create exclusive products and programs, as well as identify Amwins specialists within the firm for difficult classes of business.
Today, that same foundation supports a growing set of AI-enabled tools for colleagues across Amwins’ five divisions. Amwins has implemented AI with privacy and security at the forefront, using a secure, controlled environment designed to protect company and client information and ensure that its data is not used to train external AI models.
Strong, stable data infrastructure powers AI capabilities
Amwins expertise spans numerous niche industries and specialty classes. That collective knowledge is stored in Amwins DNA, which includes more than 2.2 million submissions and $49 billion in premium placements, with risk- and policy-level detail across the firm’s Property, Professional Lines and Healthcare books and many casualty lines, including Construction, Real Estate, Excess Auto, Primary Auto, Manufacturing and Product Recall.
“With rich data and proprietary technology, the company’s AI-driven solutions enable Amwins brokers and underwriters to work efficiently and accurately – bringing the intelligence of the entire firm to each employee as soon as a submission is received,” said Purviance.
One such solution is Amwins’ market suggestions tool, a proprietary AI-enabled model built by in-house data scientists. Submission data is matched with Amwins DNA to predict markets and underwriters that have an appetite for a specific risk, helping seasoned brokers stay aware of new market entrants and upskilling newer team members who may have only one market cycle of experience.
AI-enabled tools across the firm
Amwins’ AI work is organized around five priorities: empowering every colleague with enterprise-approved AI tools such as Copilot and Claude; automating repetitive work, such as data capture, remittance uploads and policy checking in client services (CST); business-led initiatives; enterprise-led initiatives built on Amwins’ data and proprietary technology including a custom developed Amlink MCP (Model Context Protocol); and AI-first software development.
“Our data foundation – Amlink, Amlink Docs and Amwins DNA – is a real advantage in putting AI to work, and we’re being thoughtful and disciplined about where we apply it,” said Ben Sloop, President and Chief Operating Officer of Amwins. “Insurance is a relationship business, and AI doesn’t change that. The goal isn’t to replace expertise; it’s to pair our people’s skills with our data and analytics so we can deliver better outcomes for our retail clients.”
Claude extends AI to colleagues across the firm
Amwins has rolled out Claude to nearly 8,000 colleagues across its five divisions. Claude is part of the firm’s effort to empower every colleague to take advantage of this technology, which is now a daily part of how employees work.
“At the end of the day, we are a people business,” said Sloop. “AI augments and multiplies our employees’ capabilities to serve our clients and allows us to take on more ambitious work than ever before. It makes our people extraordinary.”
Dragoneer connection underscores AI investment
Dragoneer, an investor in Amwins since 2015, co-led Anthropic’s $30 billion Series G at a $380 billion post-money valuation and was one of four lead investors in its subsequent $65 billion Series H at a $965 billion post-money valuation. Its investment in both companies reflects Dragoneer’s conviction in category-leading, technology-enabled businesses, spanning specialty insurance distribution and enterprise AI.
