AUSTIN, TX, UNITED STATES, August 27, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Golf swing analyzer GolfWiz AI announces the launch of the Golf Grip Type Classifier, a free tool that analyzes a golfer’s grip type using a desktop or mobile browser. By holding a club in view of the camera, a golfer receives a grip analysis in approximately three seconds.
The classifier reads the lead hand and trail hand separately, assesses each on a weak-to-neutral-to-strong scale, and explains the likely ball flight that grip type tends to cause. The tool counts visible knuckles on the lead hand and measures the angle formed by the thumb and forefinger on each hand, which is how coaches also perform grip checks, then translates the assessment into a plain-language result.
The strong-versus-weak grip debate remains one of the most discussed topics in golf instruction. Grip is the only point of contact between a golfer and the club, which is why teaching professionals check hand position first: when the hands are rotated too far in either direction, the clubface tends to open or close at impact, curving the ball accordingly. This is why amateur golfers commonly search for terms such as “what is a strong grip in golf” and “golf grip to fix slice” when trying to fix the issue on their own.

Datta also noted that grip changes are difficult to maintain without a way to verify them. “A grip change can feel strange during the first week,” Datta said. “Most golfers go back to their old grip without realizing it. Being able to recheck in three seconds is what makes the change stick.”
Results can be saved, shared with a coach or friends, or rechecked after a practice session to confirm whether the grip adjustment held. The tool does not require users to input an email address, account, or payment to use, and operates entirely within the browser window.
